I think it’s time we discussed how this blog came about. It was a combination of many things, really, but the number one reason I started this blog was because we were broke. HA! I wish I could say it started as a passion project, but it truly did not.
I have no doubt there is a lot I do wrong when it comes to homeschooling. However, there is one thing – and one thing ONLY – that I am completely positive I do right: math. It is so right, in fact, that making the jump to homeschooling altogether has been made totally worth it, purely because my kids get to learn math THIS way.

It was “organized” chaos. Only it wasn’t organized at all and before long, it started to give me anxiety. I could not breathe in that space! It was not only disorganized, but it had also become a dumping ground for everything that lacked a place in the house. After a while, I didn’t even want to teach the kids in that room, or go in there at all. So much of my time was spent digging for what I needed, not knowing if I’d find it. It was terrible, until I finally listened to my best friend.
At Warby-Parker if I have a problem, I call the company where I am never put on hold. I talk directly to a person. They are always kind, they never argue that it’s my fault the lenses are scratched, they say sorry, send me an email with postage already supplied and addressed, I ship it to them, I wait, I get it back in the mail. It probably takes me about 10 minutes total.

A lot of us have ended up with many lousy toys; toys that have batteries and provide most of the entertainment for the child. Kids end up barely using their imaginations and get bored easily because of a short attention span. We had quite the collection of battery powered toys in our house to no fault of our own. All it takes is a couple of birthdays and holidays, and they seem to multiply at the hands of well-meaning family and friends!
