Thoughts

WW

Today I logged my food on WW before I logged it with Noom. After the snack at lunch, I had 0 pts left for the day. I felt fine, it was 3 in the afternoon, so I figured I’d have a light dinner with zero point foods. I planned to eat a 0 pt smoothie for dinner which would consist of 3 cups of spinach, 2 servings of frozen mango, and a banana.

However, around 3:30 pm, I decided to fill in my WW vs Noom chart. That’s when I realized I had only eaten 880 calories so far! I was shocked. So I pre-logged the smoothie I was planning for dinner, and discovered I would only be at 1,195 calories for the day. Once I realized my calories were so low, I changed my dinner plans to a homemade pizza. That brought my calorie total for the day to 1547, and sunk my points.

This is a good thing and a bad thing about WW.

The good thing is that I would have eaten 1,200 calories and felt full because I thought that I had eaten more than that. Once I learned the number was so low, I was like, “I’m going to feel faint running 8 miles tomorrow. I need to eat.” This is what I like about WW. It creates a calorie blindness, and I don’t get in my head. This is exactly what I am talking about when I say WW is good for how my brain works.

The bad thing about being so low in calories is that it actually can effect my workouts. Maybe I would have started my 8 mile run tomorrow morning, feeling sluggish and hungry. This has been my main concern about pairing WW with such an intensive workout regimen. I feel like I need to make sure I am getting enough calories while training for this half marathon.

Maybe this is why I struggle to lose weight consistently with WW.

This might be the reason I lose weight with WW in spurts instead of finding continual success. I cannot sustain being under calorie while working out 10-15 hours a week. If I hadn’t eaten another 700 calories, I probably would have set myself up for a binge day because I would have been hungry and worn out.

This is all very interesting to me. I’m like, “Ah-ha! I knew it!” I mean I suspected these super low calories existed with WW, but I’d always been too lazy to track twice. Actually seeing the low calories is completely different than suspecting it.

In WW defense, I might also be learning I’d be a better fit on the green plan (30ish daily points) instead of the purple plan (16 daily points) since I don’t seem to be utilizing the zero-point purple plan foods like I’d hoped. Maybe I’m not be eating the free foods because I would have to track them with Noom, so the reward of not tracking them with the purple plan is gone. I don’t know.

Noom

I am finding myself more in touch with my hunger cues with Noom. When my stomach growls, I look at my calories consumed and the time of day, and I see that it makes sense I am hungry. Then I eat something, Plus, I’m actually getting used to tracking the calories in fruit and veggies. It’s not that bad afterall.

It’s nice being sure that I am fueling my body with enough calories during all this exercise. I can’t believe that I am actually enjoying counting calories. Could this be the program that eases me off WW and into losing weight by counting calories? I’ve never lost weight and kept it off with calorie counting. We’ll see!

Conclusion

My mind shouldn’t be blown today, but it is. I’ve known all along that being low on calories but out of points was possible, but to see it shake out is another story. Can’t wait to see how tomorrow goes.
