Weight Watchers vs Noom: Week 2 Day 1

I’m hoping to accomplish what feels impossible at this point: seven consecutive days logging both Noom and Weight Watchers. Not just that, but I want to actually succeed at Weight Watchers. Is that so much to ask? It might just be impossible. We’ll see.

This morning I woke up 5 lbs heavier than I was 2 weeks ago. Whoops. I know most of it was water weight with a touch of stress eating (and I didn’t log several days as you might have noticed), but the time has come for me to lock up my inner fun guy, and get to work. I really want to enter the New Year in the 150’s.

Thoughts

WW

I just need everyone to know I’m super annoyed about 2.5 candy canes being 8 points. The thing is, I didn’t even want to eat any! I was just sitting there, minding my own business, when my son took a candy cane off the tree and broke it into a million pieces. He’s 3, he was mad about something…it was a fit. Why didn’t I throw it away? Good question. Because eating it was the most efficient way to clean it up and deal with his mood.

Then my daughter started one and didn’t like the flavor, enter human garbage disposal known as mom. That’s how the other half got eaten too. When I logged it afterwards I was less than please with my kids and put them all in a permanent time out. Look what you made your mother do! I’m only kidding, remain calm. 8 points for candy canes is harsh. So I’m just gonna throw my little WW tantrum and move on.

Luckily I redeemed myself with my “famous” dinner recipe: Mom’s Burst Tomato Balsamic Lentil Pasta. It had two points, and I was pleased. This is the first time I had ever had it with chicken, spinach, and feta. It was a was a perfect combination. I still feel full from dinner. Win, win, win.

I enjoyed WW today when I had a big plate of food for two points, and I cursed it when my candy canes were 8 pts. That’s how it goes.

Noom

So far I am not impressed with the coaching at Noom. I feel less supported than I initially did. Once you are on the program longer than 2 weeks, it’s supposed to get you with group coaches and a support group. Maybe I’ll be more impressed then.

I do find calorie tracking more enjoyable with Noom than I ever have before. That’s a plus. It was also nice that 2.5 crappy candy canes didn’t sink my day. That is a definite benefit of tracking calories versus points.

Sidenote

I have some good news for you. There are over two weeks until Christmas, and Noom offers a week trial for next to nothing. (seriously, you decide how much you want to pay for the trial. You can pay as little as one dollar.) You can’t give up in December.

Why not just try the Noom trial for the next week? What does it hurt?! You might even lose 5 lbs before Christmas. Or maybe you try it and hate it, then you will know what not do do next year. Eitherway, if you try it, comment and let me know. Sometimes I feel very alone over here logging on two weight loss apps through the holidays. Haha!

Conclusion

Overall this was a great food day! I still have lots of weeklies left, I didn’t eat like a maniac, and I tracked everything. Hopefully this week will be as good as this day…only time will tell. Come back tomorrow and we shall see. Haha!
