How has it already been 5 weeks since my last update post?? A lot happened in September. Both of my best friends of 18 years had babies only 5 days apart, I ran 69 miles, and summer has refused to leave. But the thing that relates to this update the most is that I had a diet identity crisis. Sick of cooking, sick of planning, and just overall rebellious to dieting.

I logged over half the month, and went over in points every single week. Incredibly, I still lost weight. That’s why I always say, even failing at Weight Watchers, I will manage to lose. It’s just enough of a leash to keep me from going all out crazy.

I ended July at 165.2 and as of my last weigh day I was 162.4. I lost a whopping 2.8 pounds last month. Mentally, it was a tough month for weight loss…but I will take it. Every little bit counts and puts me closer to my goals. As you can see, my weight yo-yo’d a little, and when that happened, I’d log the next week. That’s what kept me from spiraling and gaining 5 pounds. It was nice to use the WW program when I needed a way to reel myself back in.

The Plan Going Forward

Since last month was such a battle to behave with food, I have spent quite a bit of time reflecting. From here on out, I need to be intentional with my food. I see that it is going to be a concentrated effort to get the weight off. Starting today, I want to get back into the habit of logging. I also want to bring my family back around to eating whole-food, plant-based but find a way to simplify it. One of the problems last month was that I was tired of cooking. If I can simplify that area of my life, I think I can keep going with plant based living.

I will also take before and after pics starting tomorrow. I read a post this morning by Kayla Itsines about how to measure success without a scale, and I think I will try that way too. That will help me accept the slow process of 2-5 pounds a month and focus on the successes you can’t see with a mirror. It should help me emotionally on this long journey. This next month I need to overcome the mental hangups keeping me from success. Starting this book over and completing more worksheets will be a great way to have a mental reset.

In Conclusion

Life happens, diets don’t always stick because we get sick of eating less. The key is you cannot quit. With a bit of evaluation, you can extract what is working, and change what isn’t. It isn’t a linear journey, and it is OK to make mistakes. The biggest mistake you can make is to stop trying, or worse, to not even start. You will always fail at a diet at some point. But somehow, if you keep going and trying, you will lose.

Here’s to a renewed frame of mind and another 4 weeks on WW. I hope you try something today. Find what works for you and stick with it. If you happen to think WW is a good fit, I’d appreciate if you purchase through my link! Thanks in advance for your support, and let me know if you need any support on your own weight loss journey.
